How to make vampire fangs follow the user's upper teeth accurately?

Hi,

I’m building a vampire face effect in DeepAR Studio and I’m having trouble attaching 3D fangs to the mouth correctly.

My current setup:

  • I use the standard head model from the DeepAR documentation as an occluder.
  • The fangs are placed slightly inside the mouth.
  • I modified the mouth area a bit so the fangs can sit deeper inside.
  • The fang meshes are bone-driven.
  • I assigned them to the same facial bones that influence the mouth area.

The problem is that the fangs do not stay aligned with the user’s real upper teeth during facial motion.

When the user opens their mouth, or especially when the upper lip moves upward, the fangs lag behind and stay too low relative to the real teeth. They look like they are following the mouth region rather than the actual upper jaw / teeth position.

What I’m trying to achieve is:

  • the fangs should stay fixed to the user’s upper teeth / upper jaw;
  • opening the lower jaw should not move them down;
  • movement of the upper lip should not make the fangs drift away from the real teeth;
  • they should remain stable during smiling and opening the mouth.

Is there a recommended DeepAR setup for this?

Specifically:

  • Which bones / joints should be used for objects attached to the upper teeth?
  • Should the fangs be weighted to one bone or several mouth bones?
  • Is there a dedicated upper-jaw / teeth anchor in the DeepAR face rig?
  • Is bone-driven tracking the correct approach, or is there another recommended method for teeth/fangs?
  • Can a 3D object be made to follow the detected position of the user’s real teeth directly?

I can attach my fang model / FBX and screenshots of the rig if that helps.

Thanks!
